Digital marketing is a marketing tool that uses Internet and online based digital technologies such as desktop computers, mobile phones and other digital media and platforms to promote products and services. In the 1990s and 2000s, brands and businesses changed the way they use technology for marketing. Digital platforms have become increasingly integrated with marketing planning and everyday life, and as people use digital devices instead of physical stores, digital marketing campaigns, including the use of search engine optimization, have become commonplace. Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Content Marketing, Influential Marketing, Content Automation, Promotional Marketing, Data Driven Marketing, E-Commerce Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Social Media Optimization, E-mail Direct Marketing, Display Advertising, and Book & Optical Disc And games have become commonplace. Digital marketing extends to non-Internet channels that provide digital media such as television, mobile phones (SMS and MMS), callbacks and on-hold mobile ring tones. Expansion of non-internet channels separates digital marketing from online marketing.
